FWIW, I have purchased several new Win7 softwares since I abandoned the Win8 beta test.
Other than running 32 bit programs more smoothly using remote desktop, I could find zero advantage to Win8.
What made me abandon it is its habit of suddenly deciding after a windows update that it no longer 'likes' a particular driver that is already in the system and working fine. Win8 will simply shut it down with no explanation other than it has been found to be 'incompatible'.
Each week, something that worked fine the week before would simply stop working with Win8 refusing to be convinced to reload and use the driver.
Thw Win8 interface is designed for a specific purpose . . to be operated by your fingers like a typical modern cel phone. And also like a cell phone, it phones home, updates itself (and anything else on your computer that is feel needs updating) and just does stuff whether you want it to or not.
Well, to stay with the analogy . . I got an app for that . . . its called Win7.

It got as far as putting up the DynoMotion splash screen, and the little progress dialog showing it was preparing the installer. At that point in just hung. I just left it like that, and, after perhaps 3 minutes, it suddenly came to life, and finished the install with no problems.
